Our History

Tri County Builders was established in May of 1981.
Kenneth Allston and his father, Hugh, began building modular homes in Southern Maryland. Over time, the decision was made to transition to site-built homes.

With an emphasis on quality construction and good design, Tri County Builders has built approximately 700 homes throughout the area since 1981. In February 2018, Kenneth Allston handed over Tri County Builders to Chad Garner of Wise Choice Construction, LLC. For over 15 years, Ken relied on Chad’s expertise for his own home renovation projects. He trusted him as a professional businessman and partner before deciding to hand the business over to Chad and retire from home building.

Under Chad Garner’s leadership Tri County Builders will strive to continue to provide the highest quality workmanship so that every customer is satisfied.

Prior to starting his company in 2003, Mr. Garner graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics and two minors in business finance and management science. After graduating Mr. Garner began working at the National Association of Home Builders research center as Project Manager, where he coordinated Field Evaluations, administered Technical support, and developed the Technology Inventory project phase for the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) program. He also managed construction of the MADE Demonstration Homes at the NAHB National Research Home Park, where he focused on improving housing affordability, marketability, and durability. Mr. Garner is also an ongoing consultant for Newport Partners LLC.
